Rarissime tirage sous un titre qui semble être resté inconnu à ce jour, du célèbre "De Praesagienda Vita, et morte aegrotantium" d'Alpini. Il s'agit apparemment d'une nouvelle parution, sous un titre différent mais avec le même nombre de pages, de la seconde édition parue en 1601 à Francfort (la même année que l'originale vénitienne).
'Alpini's treatise on prognosis took into account the patient's mental state and its bearing on health as well as the usual physical diagnostic signs. Boerhaave edited an edition of De praesagienda in 1733 and stated in its preface that 'there is nowhere to be found, a book fitter for promoting medical knowledge, and consequently none mor worthy to be warmly recommended to students in medicine'…" (Norman).
Prosper Alpini (1553-1617) est notamment resté célèbre pour ses travaux sur la médecine, les plantes et l'histoire naturelle de l'Egypte, où il séjourna plusieurs années en qualité de médecin de la flotte d'Andrea Doria.

Rarísima tirada bajo un título que parece haber permanecido desconocido hasta la fecha, del célebre "De Praesagienda Vita, et morte aegrotantium" de Alpini. Se trata aparentemente de una nueva publicación, bajo un título diferente pero con el mismo número de páginas, de la segunda edición publicada el 1601 en Frankfurt (el mismo año que la original veneciana).

Prosper Alpini (1553-1617) es célebre por sus trabajos sobre la medicina, las plantas y la historia natural de Egipto, donde estuvo varios años en calidad de médico de la flota de Andrea Doria.
Puntos de óxido habituales debidos por la naturaleza del papel. Bello ejemplar en una elegante encuadernación en pergamino pintado en negro, realizado en la época por un aficionado no identificado, las iniciales y símbolo heráldico del cual decoran el lomo.

Extremely rare issue under a title - which seems to have remained unknown until today - of the famous "De Praesagienda Vita, et morte aegrotantium" by Alpini. It seems to be a new issue - under a different title but with the same number of pages - of the second issue published in Frankfurt in 1601 (the same year as the Venetian first edition).

Prosper Alpini (1553-1617) more particularly remained famous for his works on medicine, plants and the natural history of Egypt, in which he stayed several years serving as Andrea Doria's fleet doctor.
